Can anyone point me in the direction of a coin counting machine in town?

I have a large jar of 1c coins that I dont fancy bagging up. So I'll pay the 10% charge or whatever it is.

Tesco in the Jervis Centre have one.

Found one in the Spar on Thomas St (Bridgefoot St end) but got hit for 12.5%

Still got almost €18 for a useless tub of pennies. I'll be back tomorrow with a similar size tub of 2c coins!

Super Valu on Talbot Street have one too but I'd recommend the one in Tesco in Jervis as it's out of the way. The one in Super Valu is right on top of the tills and the last time I used it, it kept spitting out some of the coins onto the floor. Slightly embarrassing as everyone in the queue looks at you!

My problem with Tesco in Jervis is those bloody travelators. Why do people insist on standing in the way rather than walking on them? But I guess that's better suited to a cranky thread in AH :)

I heard someone say once that the Tesco ones let you use the full credit in store and only charge you the percentage if you look for cash.

Not sure if that's true but it might be worth checking.

If you've patience and a slightly brass neck the Tesco in Temple Bar (fleet st) has self service tills that accept coins in a hopper. you don't have to individually feed in coins like in other self service tills.
I usually go there if I've a build up of coins, at a quiet time and tip my coins in. No deductions. Works well and it's like getting your shopping for free.
Not sure how they'd react if you arrived in with a large jar though.

I'd be very interested in finding out if this is true?

It's certainly supposed to be, but Tesco Clarehall have denied all knowledge any time I've used the coin machine.

I've used it to pay for shopping in several tescos and always got full value. It was printed on the receipt the machine gave for my coins

I've used the tesco coin machine in Naas - it issues you with a slip of paper that states on it that you can use it for the full value in the store, or bring it to the CSD and get the value less whatever percent they take. 10% or whatever it is - I always use the full value by shopping in the tesco.
