    Hi all,
Bought a vw passatt in jan, very happy with it but there seems to be a problem when driving at high speed. Car is wobbling on motorway when I'm draining at 120klm. Feels like I'm off road bouncing arround in car?? Had the 2 tyres changed recently and had tracking done, brought the car bk to have it rechecked but garage says there's noting wrong with tyres and tracking. Anyone know or experience this? Before I bring it to mechanic and he charges me a fortune?

Well it sounds like the wheels need balancing but I assume that's been checked.

Balanced? Soft tyre/s? Hows the suspension?

Are there decent quality tyres on the car?

If it's wobbling left to right as if there's heavy cross winds I'd be looking towards the bushings.

Not sure what the setup is like on a passat but perished bushings will give a car a kind of boat-at-high-seas feeling.

Best of tyres on it, balance would have been done with tracking? It's not pulling to one side, more of a wobbly boat sort of sensation. Will I bring it to a tyre place to check it out or a garage?

Put it in for an NCT. They will find any fault in the suspension. Cheap at €55.

Sounds like the tyres anyway. Change backs to front?
I'd get them balanced again just to be sure. Make certain they remove old weights before adding new ones.

I had the same problem last year in my passat. Car feels like its swaying and bouncing. It was the bushings and rear stabilisers.

Foleymoley, did it cost much to fix? Will I bring it to main vw dealer or independent garage?

I'm not sure how much. I got a load of work at the time. But I don't think it was too expensive. A good Indy should sort it.

Could be a warped wheel maybe?

Bushings are cheap, only a few quid a set but can be troublesome to fit so expect 90% of the bill to be labour.
