    How about trying something different.

You will find "heat, nice accommodation, relax, beach*, sun. Dinner with my husband. Glass of wine. good nite life" in countless cities across Europe and a lot more besides.

    *In some places.

The places you listed above are package destination tourist traps with full English breakfasts and plastic Paddy pubs.

Be a bit more adventurous. Plan an independent trip. Book your own flights and accommodation. Half the fun in planning such a holiday is plotting your journey in advance. Much better than having some travel gency send you an itenerary telling you where to be at a certain time.

I agree with Naughtysmurf above in relation to Italy. Beautiful cities, landscape, history, people and culture to enjoy.

Sun, Sea and Sand holidays have their place, but going solely on your post OP, it appears you haven't really considered any alternitaves. Apologies if I'm wrong in that assumption.

And the food & wine in Italy is much better than the crap you'll get in the Costa Del Package.

Taormina in Sicily is great spot and weather will be cooling off a little in September (it's very hot in Summer). Lots to see and do there and no shortage of great restaurants and great food. Direct flights with Aer Lingus to Catania which is about 50kms away.

I would suggest Capri. You can get a boat there from Naples. It has fantastic restaurants and scenery. There is as beach but I was only there for as day so didn't go there. For such small island it has loads of hotels and b&b's

It is a great spot but not really a beach holiday destination. Hotels and eating out can be quite expensive. Great for a few nights but not for a week or more

As far as Italy in September goes what about Sardinia? We were having a look at prices for September also and flights + transfers + accommodation (via airbnb) was starting from as little as €320 for a week in Alghero. By all accounts the beaches are great and it would suit your needs for eating out, nightlife etc.

There are some lovely beaches north of Venice up around Bibione & Caorle.
The Amalfi coast is lovely just avoid Naples
    Lake Garda / Como

I really loved Rome, cheap if you do it right (and no that doesn't mean scrimping), September weather is supposed to in or around the same as May/June, which when we were over was 30 degrees - hot enough for any Irish Person!!

I also loved Biarritz in the south of France, beautiful beaches (known for surfing), amazing food and not at all like your usual travel agent package. (It always helps to book seperate)

Please don't rule out Ibiza, it's a stunningly beautiful island and there is far more to it than San Antonio. Some fabulous little resorts in the North of the island and lovely quiet resorts further South. Check it out on Trip Advisor.

Malta is lovely, September is probably the best time to go as its not too hot, also there will be loads of "festa's ", which are basically big parades at night which are great to see, makes for a great atmosphere. Has a few nice beaches, and because malta is so small you'll have time to see everything the island has to offer for either a chilled out hol or if you want to see a bunch of different attractions throughout the island.

What about Corfu in Greece? September would be a great time to visit. Still hot, but not as crowded as the peak months of July/Aug. Sea-temps would be lovely too.

Agios Gordios on the west coast of the island is really nice http://www.agios-gordios.net/ It's a small enough resort, but plenty big for 1 weeks holiday. It has a lovely sandy beach, excellent restaurants, along the the beachfront, and main road, and nice bars too. There are only a few that stay open late though (after 1.00ish)

You can easily get a bus into Corfu Town, which is lovely to visit in the evening time. A taxi back would cost around €25

But there are lots of resorts in Corfu to choose from (just avoid Kavos ). Have a look at www.greeka.com and www.agni.gr for lots of info.

There are flights with direct holidays for just €222 p.p. return, which is very good value 7th - 13th Sept ex Dublin

I also love Malta - but just to point out, there are not many beaches, and of those there are, only about 4 of them are sandy beaches. If you want a sandy beach Meliha bay would be the best bet as it also has cafe's and bars in close proximity. The other sandy beaches are much more quiet areas. And in September the weather can be a bit changeable. When we were there a few years ago in Sept, in the 2 weeks we got 2 days of rain in the morning and sun in the afternoon, a few days of sunny until about 3 and then overcast, one day totally overcast for the whole day and one day where it rained the whole day and evening. So it's not the ideal time to visit if you are sun worshiper.

Check out Illetas in Majorca. It is very relaxing, very cool and has a lovely beach with bars that become very nice chilled restaurants in the evening.

It is a million miles removed from magaluf and Santa ponsa yet is only a 25Euro cab ride from the airport and twenty minutes by bus from Palma town.
