Due to circumstances that didnt allow me to sell my old rig im looking for upgrades.

I was wondering which would be a better option for gaming? Can get hold of Dual 7870s for 310 euro and a single xfx7950 for 225 euro? Would mainly be playing BF3, Tomb Raider, Burnout Paradise, Assasins Creed etc.

Is CF really much better than a single 7950 that could actually be CF in future?

Will also be ordering a few other parts from HWVS such as case, psu and more ram but have a fx6300 and 8gb of ram already

Man, a single Dualx 7870 I would recommend over that heap of **** XFX. The XFX has the absolute worst cooler of all 7950s, loud and ineffective. AFAIK the VRMs don't have dedicated cooling either.

If you're strapped for cash grab a single 7870, 2 of those cards and you're golden. Seriously, that deal is excellent.

Cheers for the heads up. Just wondering do the 7870's support a Qnix/Catleap monitor at 1440? Not going to be doing it for possibly another 2-3 years but would like my setup to be capable of it when the time comes around? Cash wont really be a problem as I have about 400 quid to play around with now and that figure grows every week.

Will the release of the 9000 series drop prices any more than they have already as im in no rush really. My current 2 rigs handle the games fine its just that I was looking to upgrade my whole system over time.

I you have 400 already and the figure is growing every week why wait 2-3 years to go 1440p? You can get the Qnix for €240. If you're lucky you won't have to pay customs, if you do it's only another €45 or so.

I'd go with a pair of 7870's for €310 assuming your board and psu supports them.

Alternatively grab a single decent 7950 from amazon now. You can get the Asus one (best cooler) for €250.

Well im planning on keeping any spare cash for the next 3 months for pc upgrades and after that iv got other stuff coming up. I like 1440p and everything but happy gaming at 1080p for now, looking mainly into HDD and SSD storage, graphics and cpu cooler/case/psu for now.

Im using a 970 Pro3. It has 2x PCIe2x16 lanes but not sure if the cooler on 2nd GFX card will interfere with my wireless card as there doesnt look to be a lot of clearance.

Really is there much difference between a single 7950 and 2x7870's?

That board doesn't have 2 x16 lanes with 2 cards. 1 will be x4 with crossfire. You would only lose about 10% performance with mid range cards like the 7870's though.

2 x 7870's would outperform a 7950 by quite a bit but if you want to stick with 1080p and a single card for now just grab a 7950. It has more than enough power for 1080p.

The Asus is even cheaper than I though. €235 is a total steal for this beast of a card.

Just going to say I've had multiple XFX and I've never had a problem but whenever I've tried someone else I had nothing but trouble.
