    Hey!

I have a techflow T2 water pump that keeps running every few seconds. My landlord said that I broke it by switching it off by the main switch in the hotpress. Is that possible? She also said that I broke it by using too much water??????

THis problem has been going on for about a year but it is getting worse now as I was told to run the cold tap in the kitchen for a few minutes and it should stop. It worked twice but not this time :(

    Anyone any advice????

    Thanks :pac:

Firstly, you certainly didn't break it by using too much water, or by turning it off.

I'm not familiar with the T2, but what you describe is typical of a negative head pump that has lost pressure in the expansion vessel. If yours is a negative head pump, it will have one or two small cans on it, usually domed or spherical. They'll have a valve cap on them similar to a car tyre. They can be pumped up with a bicycle or foot pump. They should be set to 1Bar with no other pressure in the system.

Nmacc Thanks a million for your reply. I can only see one dome. It's an apartment and the pump works on taps and washing machine as well as the shower. I don't know if that's relevant? ?

Also here are some pics! !

OK, that'a what I'd expect to see. Now get yourself a bicycle pump & a car tyre pressure gauge. Shut off the water supply to the pump - I can see a valve just out of shot on the left in the first pic, so there should be one on the corresponding pipe on the other end of the pump.
Run the hot & cold taps in the bathroom to release the pressure. Remove the valve cap & measure the pressure. It should be around 1.0 Bar or 15 psi. If not, use the pump & make it so.
If you get water out of the valve cap, then the vessel is shot. They are usually very expensive from the pump company, but the blue one you can get in Heatmerchants labelled as "Water Shock Arrestor" will work fine instead for a fraction of the price.

Thanks very much for that, I will try and see what happens. :)
