Here's a link to a survey that Golfing Weekly is running: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/top50IrishLinks

Rank these 50 and you could win a fourball at your top links course and a Nikon Coolshot Rangefinder worth €350. It runs till September 1st.

No more griping about all the rankings - now you can do it yourself!

I've done one. How many replies would a survey like that get? You'd imagine the no would be small enough. Good chance at the prize???

Hard thing to do, Cant imagine many have played more than half of them

True that. Also Rathmore and Portrush Valley Links are both available for ranking even though they're the same course.

you've one less chance now... i just did it.

it is a bit of a joke to be honest cause i've probably played 15 of them at a push and most of them were donkeys years ago

Havent played more that 10 of them.
So is my ranking useful or a waste (or is it one of those clever algorithms that counts the number of Item A beats Item B events and compile an overall ranking or something) ?

Yea, good points about who's played what. I've played the 18s but only 2 of the 9s (Mulranny and Cruit Island). I guess you do the best you can - well you would for a prize - wouldn't you!

When did the old head become a links?
    Top notch researcher there.

The list has been changing - on my blog I pointed out that three courses were missing (Lahinch Castle, RCD Annesley and Ardglass) and these were then added, and now Portrush Valley Links and Old Head have also been included. The list is 57 long. Go with the flow, I say. It's just for fun

Gave it a whirl. Played a few new tracks this year but have a ways to go before Id feel 'qualified' to rank that many quality links. No question about my top 3 though- RCD, Ballybunion Old and Carne.

Can you rank the course you do know and leave the rest blank? Guessing that will mess up the results.

I hate to admit it but I've yet to play a links course. Something that is going to change as soon as I can.

No Corballis on that list. Also I could be wrong but I think Buncrana and North West is the same course.

Good spot on Corballis. Buncrana is a 9 hole, pretty much next door to North West.
