Mirror pane fell off - how to stick it back on?

My wing mirror pane just fell on the ground. It didn't shatter so I think I can just glue it back on. It's an Octavia. Would superglue do the job?

    Epoxy would be better

A bit of double sided tape would do, like the stuff used to secure number plates, if you're in Cork City I can give you a bit.

Is the backing plate still on the glass? If so, it clicks in, rather than sticking. Don't use glue or tape - have a look online for a guide to replacing it.

What I have is mirror on both sides. There is a plastic "plate" which is still attached to the side mirror. The only options looks to be glue of some sort.

    Double sided tape only

Aradilte glue, that will hold it. MAke sure you only put it on the adjuster and not fix the mirror so it can not move. A replacement mirror glass would be about €20, it would have the backing on it. There is a sticky version available, but they don't last.

Silicon Sealant. Apply sealant to back of glass, Tape glass on using a rag to keep pressure applied. Leave over night to set. I have done this many times. Never fails. Other adhesives can be brittle and can separate under vibration.

Happened me last year, stuck it on with Araldite and its still there. The heated mirror works ok still too. Seems the reason it fell out was related to me having the heated mirrors on all the time. Though I found it helps keep them clear of rain too. Anyway take a look at that thread.

There's videos online showing how to remove the backing plate, need to tilt the mirror with electric motor. See muck garage youtube video for mk v golf it's the same design.
