Might as well kick this off.

I put up Ninjago for the Stewards Cup at Goodwood a few weeks back, where he finished 5th. However, I believe he should have been much closer and possibly should have fought out the finish with the eventual winner. Richard Hughes had just had a horrible ride on Sky Lantern in the race before & held Ninjago up when the stalls opened, placing him dog last. I guess his plan was to view the race from there, pick a path & deliver his mount with a clear, late run. He did everything right except the last part - the race was pretty much over by the time he got going & he was a fast finishing 5th, beaten under 4L. Form of race has yet to be tested but the Stewards Cup is one of the most competitive sprints of the season so I'm sure it will work out to be a decent race. Ninjago holds a Group entry next month and although Hughes is not at Newmarket, Sean Levey is an able deputy. He runs off the same mark of 103 and while I confess I havn't studied the rest of the opposition in dept, nothing jumps off the page at me at first glance so I'm going to give Ninjago another chance tomorrow in the hope he's as good as I think he is. If he fails, I'll give up the ghost.

I see Murtagh is heading to Newbury tomorrow - he's got a nice book of rides lined up.

Shadow catcher Perth summer champion hurdle..

Also for tonight I note JJ Lambe has done the pain staking trip from Tyrone to Waterford for evening racing so Silk Hall can put him in the winners enclosure at 13/2 ill say a big hello to that price ;-)

Edit: don't forget to thank me and send my commission fee of 5% after it wins

    3:30 Ripon

Confessional has really done nothing right this year, but as a result he has come down in the handicap to his lowest mark in a long time. He has been given a decent break after a poor run at Newcastle, which had come after a few decent enough runs in good races. Although he is generally a 5 furlong horse he has some very decent runs over 6 and should be drawn ok here in 12. Im hoping he will get back to form here at a huge price, as he has the capability on his best form of this mark.

    1 Point EW 33/1 Various

Secret Witness just failed for us last week at a very big price andhe really looks to be getting back to form. He has an excellent draw and is still capable enough of his revised mark here. I didn’t think he would be such a decent price after last week and is easily worth a small bet at the 20 available on Betfair

    1 Point win 20 Betfair.

    3:50 Newbury

Common Touch got back to very decent form with a good 7th at Royal Ascot in a far tougher race than this, and his last run can be discounted as he was left at the start. He looks to be back on the upgrade and this looks decent opportunity of what is an excellent mark considering he is 4lbs lower than his Ascot run. 14/1 looks a very decent price and well worth a bet.

    2 Points win 14/1 Generally

    2:50 Ripon

Bajan Tryst ran an excellent race in the Scottish Sprint Cup on his return this year and although he was poor last time, he has been given a break since, and can certainly perform of this mark especially with a 7lbs claimer on here for the first time. He has course form and can’t be the 33/1 shot he is here.

    1 Point EW 33/1 Generally

Unbelievable winning ride there by Fran Berry at Doncaster on Red Paladin, say you'd have got a nice price in running!

I like the look of Lone Warrior here.

Think Dance and Dance ran a really nice race when hampered in the Bunbury Cup off this mark and whilst it was a bit disappointing that he didn't win last time out, he looks a solid each way bet at 6/1 in the 3.50 Newbury.

Ayaar looks potentially well handicapped at Chester at 16/1, his run behind Garswood earlier on in the season off 102 is good form, now 95 I don't think he has got the mile since, back to seven he looks another big price

I think Duntle 3/1 has a good chance tonight in Arlington, but its never easy to win in america. I dont think Wachman would send her if she didnt have a chance.

I see A Oliver is sending First Cornerstone over as well. I don't know what to make of that maybe the owners wanted to run it.

I think i'll only back Duntle though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Is first Cornerstone running in the million? Was bought by a crowd of Yanks last back end the plan at the time was to go to Kentucky.

That Beverly D is usually poor enough, Duntle is much better than the filly that won it last year.

Murtagh picking up some great one's.

Even with a clear run Dance and Dance wouldn't have been good enough, but think it was a poor enough ride by Fallon to get boxed in. Hopefully won't be touched for that, think he has a win in him

CH4 commentator said it was a ''lovely'' ride by Fallon?

Stone of Folca in this at 14s, two places from two today. Pound below his last win mark, usually gives his running

    Edit:held fire with the ground

Ya i was talking to someone since and he told me that first cornerstone is gone over there for good. I hope he runs well for A Oliver but I wont back him. I chanced 20 on Duntle at 7/2.

Dank didn't half win that. She looks like a filly on a serious upward curve. Duntle clearly didn't stay.
