Linear Perspective

    Hi,

There is a planning application in to build a wind turbine 100 metres tall approximately 500 metres from the back of my house...i am trying to work out how much of it i will see from my back door.

According to the linear perspective formula I found on wikipedia, if I divide the actual height by the distance away, that will give me the 'apparent' height:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perspective_(visual)#Linear_perspective

So, 100/500...'apparent' height will be 20 metres...that sound about right?

    Thanks, appreciate the sanity check!

It will appear to go as high as an object which rises to 1 metre above your eye level and is 5 metres away from you.

Sorry, I realise that this isn't After Hours... but I couldn't resist it! :P

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

We were joking about the same clip!! Just didn't think it was suitable/factual enough to include it in our objection letter to the planners!!
