I'm looking for the engine code for my 09 mk4 mondeo. Ford garage quoting me over €1000 to change the timing belt (wet belt) water pump etc

Phoned a guy i know in another garage (Honda main dealer) and he said according to stats on my car it's a maintenance free timing chain

Needs to know the engine code to check but he is down the west and I'm in Dublin

    Thanks lads

The new model mondeos are all belts. The MK3s were chains. But I think the change schedule is pretty long

    try here

The 2009 Mondeo 1.8TDCI definitely has the wet belt.

You can get it done in an independent garage a lot cheaper than €1000. For example we charge €600 for them.

    What IS a wet belt?

It is a belt that is immersed in engine oil. The pre 2008 1.8 engine used a chain but they changed to a belt at the very end of 2007.

See attached picture of the wet belt setup. This is on an engine we rebuilt after the wet belt failed.
