As there's no A4 category, I'm just wondering what are the requirements for entering the veteran's category?

I think (but dont quote me on this) that your licence must say 'Vet' for UCI category. Im not sure if the a4 restriction applies to vet categories. If you are 40 or over this year then your licence should say vet (again, thats afaik, but i could quite well be wrong)

Pro-tip to anyone doing this: the prize-giving is at the *top* of the climb. So don't ride back down the hill until after they've presented the medals, or you'll have to do the climb all over again.

And send a jacket up in the car, it gets chilly up there!

I told my young lad that I was doing a hill climb tomorrow night. He asked me how long it would take and I said "about 6 minutes". He then said "you are going all the way to Louth to ride your bike for 6 minutes - you're mad". He has a point.

Do we need our CI numbers for this btw? Presume one will do?

Another great night thanks to CCC. I managed to beat my time from last year by over 30", beat last year's winner's time by 7", and still didn't win! /o\ Happy though, and well done to a certain vet who successfully defended his title, despite sustaining a broken hip earlier in the year. Some man!

I've enough mileage got out of the busted hip now. Only in the ha'penny place compared to buffalo and the like. Well done on the medal.

Thanks Cuchulainn for another great show. Coffee out of the back of the van at the top of the hill was a nice touch and it washed down the blackberries picked off the side of the road. You have all worked hard this year laying on all sorts of events including the big one in June. Go off and have a well-earned rest for the Winter.

Met Liam Dolan on top of the hill and want to congratulate him on his recent Irish Ironman record. Good luck with the nuptials too - that will be better than Kona!

Thanks Cuchulainn for a perfectly run event. Course records smashed last night? Good know after being a good half minute off the overall winners!

That's my racing season finished, delighted to have picked up an A3 medal - had a large glass of whiskey to celebrate. (didn’t stop me waking up after 5 hours though - damn you caffeine, adrenaline and pre-holidays buzz!)

He's but less than 6 mins and you got gold

Lots of others would drive half way across the country to try get a gold medal, well done on retaining the championship

Please note the results of the A3 Event for the Leinster Hill Climb Championships should be as follows, as an ineligible rider was mistakenly presented with a medal on the night.

    A3 Leinster Championship
    1st Kevin Donagher Unattached-Leinster 05:05
2nd Neal Hudson Orwell Wheelers 05:10
3rd Martin Vereker St. Tiernans 05:12

Is this event on this year? CI calendar has it down for August 20.
