Do you mean there are going to be changes to Bus Éireann route 2, perhaps?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 611 ✭✭✭MGWR

If so, then that's way too many Dublin city stops.

That's what all us drivers think as well. But then management think they know it all.

Can't believe they get rid of Knockmore stop in Arklow but claim they are adding more stops in Arklow. Unreal.

Will the kildare street outbound stop still be in place or has this been moved as part of the rerouting?

Where will the donnybrook stop be?

Very similar to the 133 stops now. I suppose they are aiming at the commute to work community

Presumably the company are only responding to customer requests in providing additional stops.

Or is responding to what the customers ask for a bad thing now?

Wonder if Templerainey Heights (Arklow suburbs) is being reinstated (there's a pole there). Also wonder will Clough and St. Senan's be included again.

On a journey on route 2 a few weeks ago the bus stopped to allow one passenger alight at Templerainey. At Knockmore one alighted and one boarded.
(nothing wrong with that, there needs to be common sense about stops. Especially when the bus is passing them anyway).

The Dublin city route will be changed according to this

Must be going to follow the route taken by the 384. Makes sense, sending it through College Green and Kildare St was a disaster.

we drivers do have flexibility but only when it's a old person and the stop is to far away

Has it actually been confirmed that Knockmore is going?

Have to admit I'm not convinced Arklow really needs all the stops. Even if the bus goes through these areas load times are reduced by concentrating on a smaller amount of stops, plus you have less stopping and starting effecting the bus. Ridiculous when Gorey and Enniscorthy can cope on just one stop.

Good news on the city centre re-routing though.

I get on and off at the Knockmore stop every day and I'd consider it busy enough.
It also has the layby space

Now you see what sort of Management we have. Its ridiculous to take knockmore off. These people don't know what they are doing.

Reggaeman, have you heard if there will be an outbound stop near the Davenport hotel near Clare street? Where Wexford bus also pick up.

Also where will the donnybrook stop be.

Its amazing that no details are up on the BE website given the changes will be implemented at the end of the month.

There is really nowhere in Gorey or Enniscorthy to put extra stops without causing chaos, even the one stop in Gorey is a problem because of illegal parking and the apparent indifference of our pretend police force.

The donnybrook stop is called donnybrook stadium' the one just before the petrol station. I will check out the devonport stop for you. the reason there is no info on the web site is because negotiations are ongoing with the unions. Managment have jumped the gun as usaual. But these changes will happen.

Thanks for that. I just query Davenport as I heard a rumour about it before as a replacement for the kildare street stop due to the rerouting.

True. I wasn't so much arguing for more stops in Gorey and Enniscorthy , but questioning the need for 3/4 stops in Arklow.

While the Lidl stop does have a shelter, it is relatively close to the Main St. stop. It would make more sense to have them spread out, Knockmore, Main St and then Ferrybank OR Templerainey (not both).

no more Kildare st. bus will (not all) pick up at Merrion sq West' Leeson St, Donnybrook , Belfield. the ones that go via Vincent's wil also pick up at Merrion sq North, and Merrion rd opp' RDS. Will be uploading copy of time table and let u know how to get it.

It's like db stops. If no-one wants to use the stop, there's no slowdown.
It's about 4km from Templerainey to Knockmore.
From the Railway bridge to the Carnew road junction is 1.3km in Gorey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭TechnoFreek

Thanks Reggaeman. Great info there. Can't believe the RDS stop is being reintroduced (for the Vincent's routes). Used to be my old stop until the route was changed last week. Pity those bus times don't suit my work!

The Knockmore stop is definitely going? On theexisting ttimetable it has its own spot on the timetable separate to Arklow. That not the case on the new timetable?

I would leave the stops at Knockmore, Lidl and Ferrybank and take out the Main St. stop. It's a long walk from either Knockmore or Templerainey, both of which have large housing estates, to Main St. and while infinitely better than when it was sited at the railway bridge, the stop there is a cause of congestion. I would definitely have a stop north of the bridge.

Talking to a councillor in Arklow and he said that Bus Eireann would only allow three stops in Arklow, three being in line with towns for its size.

Lidl, main street and Ferrybank are the ones selected. Makes no sense.

Hey man, thanks. Hope you're not getting yourself in any trouble by posting that!

Are you on route 2 yourself? What did you make of the works on the bridge in Arklow?

It would be helpful if you had mentioned Bus Eireann in the thread title to distinguish it from Dublin Bus.

No company name is printed on time table and I have not said what company im talking about.

It's disappointing that at least one bus each way can't operate along the R741 between Gorey and Wexford. This route had two buses each way until the end of last September serving Ballycanew, Ballyedmond/Wells, Castleellis Cross and Castlebridge.

Ardcavan serve Castlebridge on their Dublin route and Wexford Bus operate a local route into Wexford but the places in between have nothing. Ballycanew only has a Monday only Bus Éireann service (route 379) into Gorey.

Ok, it means omitting Enniscorthy and Ferns etc... but reduces the overall journey by 10 minutes.

You need to get support from your TD and all local people. (PROTEST)

I really don't see the point in publishing potential timetables until the final one is agreed.

Bus Eireann legally have to give one week's notice to the public of any changes and that surely is the best way to do this?

There is no Dublin Bus route 2!!!

That timetable only allows two minutes from Leeson Street to Donnybrook in the evening rush hour? Best of luck with that BÉ! What does management be smoking when they're putting together these timetables?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 611 ✭✭✭MGWR

Does not matter that Network Direct rendered the former DB route 2 defunct recently. DB could create a new route 2 where need arises. There may be other bus companies that could operate their own route 2 around the country. Merely a matter of courtesy to note that it is BE.
