30 seconds seems like way too long?
i had a 03 DTi before and on the coldest -10oC winter mornings i would just turn the key and start it immediately (like a petrol) so i doubt it needs a pre-heat on a summers morning.

do you keep the car serviced? how many miles are on it?

Diesel could be leaking back to the tank over night you could have air getting into the fuel system somewhere.

Im not familiar with that engine but injector seals used to be a common problem in the opel diesel.

Try putting a one way valve on the fuel feed the tank side of the fuel filter.

Could be. Or a leaking injector. When it starts in the morning is there a lot of smoke?
