300 is a pretty great budget for a card. Lot's of great options (which, may be an issue :p)

    Is your monitor 1080p?

    great budget you have there.

Just to let you know, your PSU, the CIT, is a very cheapy unit. Perhaps set aside a part of the budget to upgrade that PSU to something solid.

There's a good deal in pixmania at the mo, AMD 7870 for 150 euros

Here's a token chart just to give you an idea of where it stands, performance-wise should be between blue and green (your current graphics on that chip is just below the first card on the list, the 6670)

    perfrel_1920.gif

The GTX 660 Ti is about 200, with the GTX 760 about 240 euros.

thanks for info man trying to learn it all lol.Heres what i understand i have an integrated graphics card right in my system, so for a new video card would i have to uninstall the drivers first in device manger (or bios)? and remove anything from the pc ? Next buy video card install drivers from the disc included and hook it all up?Should i just buy a good video card and just hand it into pc repair shop and let them sort it out like a the noob that i am lol.

    Is this the one http://www.custompc.ie/asus-geforce-gtx-660-ti-directcu-ii-2gb-gddr5pci-express-30980mhz6008mhz-133534-p.asp

You will have to remove your current video card ( this is what your monitor is plugged into) and replace it with the new card. Integrated graphics is the CPU this does not apply to you. Once the new card is in, just install the drivers on windows, restart done, should not have to even look at the bios.

    Sorry on tablet

    That chart isn't very accurate. It doesn't take overclocking into account either. The 7870 and 7950 are both very strong overclockers. It would be more like 7970 > 680 > 7950 > 670 > 760 > 660ti > 7870 > 660.

The 7870 for €160 is great value though as is the 660ti for €190. You can get very strong 7950's for €260 as well. The 7870 or 660ti probably has stronger price/performance if you also need to get a psu.

I don't think overclocking the GPU is a good idea here

That's up to the op. Gpu overclocking is very easy but if he would prefer not to then go with the 660ti or 760gtx.

What site was selling 660ti's for €190?

Asus one (best cooler) for €210 with free delivery.

Well overclocking aside, the charts are pretty spot on, the 670 is on aggregate faster than a 7950.

That depends on the stock speeds of the cards and the games tested. Overall the 7950 is the stronger card.

The card's in the graph above are stock cards with the lowest possible base clocks. The better 3rd party cards will be about 20% higher clocked with room for another 15-20% to overclock. You can see it in the ghz edition 7970 which falls only slightly behind the 680 on that chart which most likely uses old drivers as well. It is well ahead with an overclock.

Do till think my pc can handle or should i cancel the order:confused:

It goes into the blue slot on the board. You could disconnect that wire and reconnect it after the card is installed. You should be able to run it under the card at the side of the slot.

The only concern would be whether that power supply could handle it. Does it have connections for graphics cards? There should be 8 or 6 pin vga connections spare on the psu.

You could always buy a better psu if you need to.

-edit- Actually just do yourself a favor and replace that power supply. Grab one of these. You could probably sell your old one for about €15-20.

ya man there is few spare wires coming from power, 6 pin lead few others tucked in just to the right .My power supply is Power Supply: CIT Black Edition 500 Watt think it will do the job?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

The 660ti takes 2 of those 6 pin connections. The card will come with an adaptor to turn a spare 4 pin molex connection into another 6 pin so you should be able to use it but it is a low quality power supply that I doubt can output anywhere near 500w.

You could chance it but don't be surprised if it blows within a year.
