VRT on a Japanese import - translating the logbook?

Has anyone been asked to provide a translation of the Japanese logbook to the NCTS/VRT people? I was enquiring about a car recently and its VRT application is stalled pending the translation of the logbook. I thought that it sounded like BS and maybe the dealer has upset the VRT office or something but maybe it is part of the tightened regulations. I've only ever VRT'd stuff from the UK and maybe this is typical for Japanese stuff.

Is it for emissions or just figuring out the model?

Its a bog standard Mazda MX5 - I don't understand what they are looking for as there should be millions of them in the import database.

When I imported my Honda (good few years ago now), I had to get the log book translated before the VRT office would accept it. As well as that the Japanese embassy had to stamp the translation as being correct.

Most Japanese import log books come with translation attached to it, if it does not its fairly easy to understand and get the information from it.

Shouldn't really be a reason for a hold up, but you are requested to provide translation.
