What exactly does 'Smart' mean in regard to a dress code? It is for an upcoming event .
Any links of anything that people might have seen around that would match this description!? :)

Is it a business/work occasion? I would think along the lines of trousers/skirt with a nice top or blouse, but not a full on suit?

Thanks for the reply. It is a work night out where we can bring our OH's with us. Dress code they said is 'Smart'! would a pants and a nice top and heels be alright? Something like this... http://uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_1,mon_1.8/3630200110 Or does it look to much as if I am still in the office!!

    I can't see the link!

Well, if it's a social, after hours, work event, I would think that they label it smart so people don't come dressed like they're about to hit a night club? I think you'd be ok in an appropriate dress or skirt if you preferred over trousers, not too short/much skin on show, no sky scraper heals? Have you asked around with your colleagues to see what they're wearing? It seems like an odd one but I bet there's a reason for it, someone once probably turned up ready to hit the town when the event was in a nice restaurant or something :p

Yeah I am not to sure as to why there is a dress code but I can understand why they would have one at the same time. I have this black dress from River Island that i could wear with black tights and low heels .
    Hopefully the link works! http://www.shopsimple.com/product-Black-wrap-front-belted-dress---party---evening-dresses---dresses---women-p7559196828.html;jsessionid=1A7EBD63BA846A6F0E5885F82C95BC8F

Or I could wear black suit trousers and A dressy top of some short...

Work dresscode is old fashioned and outdated, at least this crowd can see this instead of having folks wear a boring suit to work every day. Just wear a pair of shorts and a tee-shirt and also a pair of crocs and you'll be fine.
