File Permissions Blues - Win 7 & Microsoft Office 2010 Starter - SOLVED

I haven't made any major changes to my machine recently, the only thing I can think of are a bunch of Microsoft updates that were rolled out over the last few days.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium. And Office 2010 Starter. (came pre-installed)

I opened up an existing word document, edited it and when I attempted to save it I was prompted to save in my documents as I don't have permission, as the the file is read only (ORRLY, wasn't the case last time I checked)

Attempts to change the file permissions haven't been successful.

I've tested out other files such as images etc, edited them with gimp and was able to save no problem in any folder.

I've just learnt about this apparent file permissions bug which seems to be quite widespread with Windows 7 and Vista (x64). I tried the take ownership registry hack to no avail.

Yes I can just save everything to my documents but I'm a nit and I want to get to the bottom of this so I can use my machine as normal.

Anyone experienced this (particularly with word files) and has anyone found a solution to this, everything suggested to fix the general permissions issue has not been successful.

I'm tilted and jaded over this, curse you Microsoft :)

Edit - Just to add I've attempted a system restore and the issue is still persisting.

I have Comodo security installed and it obviously didn't agree with the latest updates.

I disabled the Comodo sandbox and tried again, it didn't work at first but after 30 seconds, voila... files are saving again.

Case closed and big sighs of relief. :)
