I've just booked a flight with Ryanair with a debit card, and was charged the credit card fee. Has anyone else noticed this happening?

is it Visa Debit? The charge for it are different from the old debit cards.

Yes, it is Visa Debit, but if this is the case surely Ryanair should flag if there's a charge for this particular debit card.

I was wondering afterwards if I had ticked the credit card button by mistake rather than the debit one, but I've no way of checking back now. In future flight bookings I'll monitor this one carefully to see if it happens again!

There's very little difference between the charges though and the visa debit is still cheaper than the credit card charge I thought when I was booking the other day.

we made a booking like that recently and the visa debit choice from the drop down menu changed the charge type to "credit card". It would have to be the old fashioned "debit card" for the reduced fee or no fee. For some reason Ryanair still only gives you 2 price totals, one if paid with "credit card" and one with "debit card" with no explanation of which types of card incur which charge.
I know from other sites as well that the Visa Debit is now treated as a credit card online, so it incurs similar charges.
