What age will she retire?

Hi, I am hoping someone here might be able to help my mother out on a question she has regarding her retirement age.
She works as part of a domestic team within the HSE at a care home. She has a 19 and 1/2 hour weekend has been with them for over 16 years now. Her birthdate is 1/11/1950.
She is uncertain when she will retire. I think she will have to work until she is 66 and still won't be eligible the contributory pension for a further year, however she thinks she can retire at 65 and claim unemployment assistance until her pension age of 66.

Which, if either, of us is correct?

I'm not certain of the rules. But I believe a State Pension Transition (SPT) will cover you from age 65 to 66. After which you then move onto a full State Pension Contributory (SPC). You can look it up on www.welfare.ie
