    Hi all,

Looking for tips on fixing roller blinds to insulated plasterboard. I've seen advice for attaching TVs etc using frame fixers into the the solid wall behind, but as I'll be drilling up through the plasterboard this isn't an option. Boards are 90mm thick. Any suggestions?

Can you not fit the roller blind and its brackets to the actual window frame or onto the insides of the window reveals?

Hadn't thought of fixing to e frame because of the handles. I'll need to check the clearance. There is one set of French doors that I'll need to fix the blinds into the plasterboard though

I have my blinds fixed to my french door frames themselves.

My wooden blinds are fited into the reveals of the windows.

For the blinds over the windows in the house......you can buy adjustable spacer brackets in any good shop like Hickeys and HomeFocus,,so that you can increase or decrease the gap between the wall/window frame and the blind.

They also sell them for curtain poles too.

Ive always found these to be very strong if fitted correctly

These arent bad but dont always suit every purpose depending on the size of the screw and also the insulation might be an issue.

What sort of roller blinds? Black out blinds are particularly heavy and will need a very solid anchoring

Interested to hear how the OP got on with this job. I've to do something similar, however I did not leave enough of the window frame exposed to mount the roller blind onto the window. 160mm fixings tend to be at least 10mm diameter. I was thinking of mounting 1/2 " lenghts of wood on the left and right of the window reveal and mount the blind to that. I used 82mm insulated board on top of old slabbed wall, so approx 120mm to blockwork. Any other suggestions most welcome?

I'd always advise against fixing to the frame, you can easily fix plasterboard if you change your mind. Drilling/Screwing through the window frame cant be undone.

Unless you are hanging something very heavy, you dont need to fix to the blockwork.
If its moderately heavy you can screw a length of finished wood to the studs above the window, then just screw the curtains to that.

There would be no studs as its insulated plasterboard.

Depends on how its attached, OP said " I used 82mm insulated board on top of old slabbed wall" so Im guessing the original slabs were to studs.

Must be that time of year !!! :)

Gonna try my (crap diy) hand at this this week.....
Jaysus , aint looking forward to it.

I have Blinds from Ikea , that I will be attaching to a Plasterboard overhang , windows are PVC.

I plan to hang them 'over the window' not 'to the window' if you know what I mean..
