Firefighter recruit question for DFB.

    Hi,

Any Firefighters on here with DFB? I have accepted a firefighter position pending medical and physical obviously. I am in a contract of sorts with a sporting body until end of 2014.
Basically I am wondering if I have to get myself out of this contract or do you think I will be able to continue. I am involved in a league that usually plays on a Friday or Saturday night. Ceases in November until February. Would there be any dispensation for Sporting Commitments or will it be a straight choice between them? In the interview I mentioned this so they were aware of this when they gave me the job.

Any info would be appreciated? I'm taking the job but would ideally like to continue the two of them if possible as I'm involved at a the highest level in the country

During training you will get no time off for other work, sports training, etc.

Once you pass training the shift system provides for lots of time off. Swaps are allowed with others and you can also have somebody come in early / hang on at shift change times. All at the discretion of the Station Officer but 99% of them are okay with this.

    Hope this helps
