Just murdered an entire colony out the back garden with a combination of jeyes fluid and a bucket of water. There was millions of them. Hate the little feckers with a passion, so keep an eye out folks.

Get a pet cat to sort out the frogs! Then a dog! Then sell the dog to your local takeaway!

I've been fighting off banana flies the last few days, now I have to fight flying ants too. Dang.

Greystones reporting in. A hoard sprung up from a nest in the garden earlier but has since dissipated.

    Master of the Universe

Is it just me or did the whole flying ant thing happen a lot more back in the 90s?

    Those tiny little fruit flies?

Easy trap. Put some cider vinegar in a shot glass, add a little water. Put in a drop of washing up liquid. Stretch a bit of clingfilm over the glass. Make a few tiny little holes in the clingfilm.

Et voila! Fruit fly problem gone. Works a treat.

Cinnamon is the best thing for getting rid of the little black ants and their bigger, winged brethren. I read it on the Internet and it's true. Earlier in the summer I had some of the black ants trying to set up home over by my kitchen sink so I sprinkled cinnamon outside on the ground, up the walls as much as I could and all around the water pipe entrances. Then I left the open jar of cinnamon on the kitchen windowsill over the sink and haven't seen an ant in that area since.

Then last week I walked into the kitchen and down at the dining room end saw all over the window a multitude of the flying bastards both inside and out. Hoovered up as many of the feckers as I could - sprinkled cinnamon all over the window sill and brushed it along the upright edges of the windows and did the same outside and along the path under the dining room window and then went back in and hoovered up the ants that were still getting in from outside and haven't seen one since.

So, finally the Internet told me something that is true. Ants cannot abide the smell of cinnamon so a cheap fix at 57c a jar from Aldi's and not harmful to family pets or other insects.
