A friend of mine heard I was looking for a new bike and offered me her sv for a good price.

Its been sitting in a garage for 2 years and only done 2k miles.

She is a very gentle rider. Should I be concerned that the bike was never really broken in properly with such infrequent riding.

And what should I be on the lookout for with a bike thats been sitting up for so long.

    Ditto.
I bought an 02 one last year with 9k miles on it, and parked for a year. That's barely 1k a year.

Herself rides it now - bargain. Brilliant bike.

Get a full top to bottom service and it'll be grand. Nearest thing to a new bike, really.

    Do it !

Replace all fluids and filters and it will be perfect.

Why would the tyres need replacing?

I would bring it out on them and take it easy and see how she feels....but yeah budget for new tyres.

Great fun having a burn out all the same!

They're likely the original tyres on it still so they're around since 2009 and the rubber is probably going hard at this stage.

Ya good point, I suppose they are probably at least 4 years old at this stage.

I liked the BT23's on my Kawasaki. Anyone have anything better in mind for an SV?

Angles are getting very good reviews for miles and grip....and they are cheaper then the michelins at the moment.

Went out to test ride the sv today. I just wasn't feeling it.
Not the right bike for me.

Curious to know why, if you can.

Mind you, I'm sure it would suit someone else on here.

It felt very light and not as substantial as my previous bike. Wasn't a great fan of the sound.

I also found that my head felt like it was out in front of the screen. I've got a long torso.

Just test rode the Yamaha XJ6N
I had originally gone into the dealer to test the F version but they didn't have it.

The N was loads of fun. Found it very hard to leave the dealer without a set of keys in my pocket. lol.
