what difference does mips speeds, 333mhz and 400mhz make?

    I was thinking of getting an HD box to tinker and one of the things that struck me was, the quoted mips speeds and the price?? say I look at gigablue hd800 it states 333mghz but a box called a venton, much same price, quotes 400mhz!! which is the better buy and why?

    Then when I look at the new duo2 it quotes .... 1,300mhz = holy cow! How fast is that and what difference will that make? Is it simply faster boot up time, faster loading of images, zapping, using the internet etc.? And does it improve other features as well..

    It seems an awful jump... and er the price as well!

    That's really funny GBC I've been looking at the same thing today for my brother.
    Was looking at the HD800SE but the 333mhz is only the same as my VU Solo and TBH its not the fastest or most capable box speed wise. Alright for casual use and not for ondemand or watching movies. At times it even struggles with crossepg. My DUO is 400mhz and plenty power in the main so I was then looking at the Venton HD1+ with 2 sat tuners and would be fast enough. The reviews are fine too and getting it from WOS would be a safe bet if you had issues.

    I think its the VENTON for me (or my brother).

    If its tinkering then you might appreciate the power as more plugins come available like air play etc...
