    Hmmmmm,

while browsing the usual shyte that seems to tickle my fancy I came across this car with the tax out over 12 months, NCT out over 2 years BUT valid insurance until January 2014.......

    GENIUS

How the hell do people get away with this? If the car was in an accident due to a mechanical failure that an NCT would expose would the insurance cover be limited to third party only?

maybe car wasn't used on public roads but it is insured in case if someone takes it or it goes on fire. You never know. Tax on one of my cars is out since november 2012 and nct expired few months ago and it hasn't been used since november but it has been insured all this time and just this week I have renewed insurance for another year. You never know what may happen with the car while it's parked up.

All valid of course but it is parked on a public road.

I agree with what you've said and I have insured cars while they are off the road but it tended to be that they were rare or in some way valuable.

I just find it hard to believe that the above car is off the road but kept insured.

the advert does state "cheep on petrol ,tax, and to insure" -

    - there might be spelling mistakes, but no lies ;)

It might have been off the road for a couple of years and only insured last week?

Seems to be parked on a public road.
If I was a warden I'd ring up and arrange to meet.
As soon as I had the address I'd go there and slap a fine on that yoke lol

It's probably safe to assume if it was perfectly roadworthy then the owner would NCT it which would increase his/her chances of selling it tenfold.

Good point! It's not like the NCT is too expensive. Even the car with an NCT fail sheet would be better than no NCT at all.

No, on a policy with 6 months left to run.

I've had a possibly mental idea to park the BMW up over winter and to keep it very long term.

Hence I'd get a second SHYTE car for winter driving which I didn't need to care for that much
