I have just moved into my first rental house in the country and done have Tv channels yet. There are 2 dishes on the roof but no box in he living room. Can I connect a free to air box to the wall and get channels and if so can anyone recommend a cheap one. thanks in advance.

Without paying a subscription to Sky (which would get you the Irish and UK channels from a dish), you will need a UHF aerial for Saorview (Irish channels) and a Freesat box for the UK channels via one of those dishes.

I've asked for this thread to be moved to the Satellite forum where they can advise you on an appropriate piece of kit, you may even be able to get a combi box which can decode the Saorview signal from the aerial and the Satellite channels from the dish.

Can you give us a rough idea of where you live and I can advise on the right aerial for you? You should also look to see what type of aerials your neighbours have and which direction they are facing.

Mods, I clicked on the 'report post' icon last week and asked that this be moved to the Satellite forum, can someone please oblige. OP has two dishes on the roof and wants advice on a FTA box, this is not an appropriate query for the cable forum.

    I use this one:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Humax-500GB-Recorder-Requires-Satellite/dp/B0039J42LM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1377020705&sr=8-2&keywords=foxsat+box

It has a 1/2 terra dvr for series link recording etc.

There are good ones for around £50 - 60 for a non dvr version.

ps not all of amazons supplyers will deliver here. Also we pay more vat here too. use a uk address if you have one.
