    Senior College Dun Laoighre:

    Cork College of Commerce:

    Ballsbridge College of Further Education:

    http://www.ballsbridgecollege.com/courses/community-and-public-sector/applied-psychology/

All of the above offer progression to degree at level at certain universities. I'm not sure if they are accepting applications for September 2013 but it's worth giving them a call and finding out!:)

I could be wrong but I don't think there is a way (from those courses) to get into a psychology course in Ireland from them. You do however have the option to study abroad in wales though - I presume you still get the same qualifications?

    Moved from LC

OP, I suspect the good people around here might be more knowledgeable about your query.

You can get into level 8 Psychology with a level 5, but maybe not into a university. For example, a friend of mine got into Level 8 psychology in Waterford IT after doing level 5 in college of commerce Cork. You would also be eligible to study level 8 in Social Science (UCC) if you wanted to.

    Hi nfa,

I did the PLC Applied Psychology course in Senior College Dun Laoghaire, which has links to several Universities.

Through that, I applied to both IADT and Napier University in Edinburgh and got accepted by both. I chose Edinburgh because I love the city, and I am about to start my third year in Napier in a few weeks. If you are one of the many students who didnt get what they hoped for/ expected in the leaving cert, please don't be disheartened. I went through the same and thought I would never get to college, but now I'm really loving the course, and would highly recommend you going down the PLC route.

I actually think doing a PLC course gives you a great introduction to a subject like Psychology, which we don't have a chance to do in school. In the UK they can do an A level in Psychology so they have some sort of idea, but we don't have anything like that in the Leaving Cert so many students get accepted onto a degree straight from school and find out it's not what they thought and end up hating it.

Anyway, the previous poster gave really good links. If you really want to study Psychology, you should absolutely go for it.

Also, I applied quite late to SCD, and was given a place after somebody else dropped out in the first week. So there is still hope if you give them a ring and put your name down.

    Good luck.
