I know there is a good few variables lads but could you give me a ball park idea of how many ton of turf I would fit in to a 12 and a half cubic metre box water level load?

all depends on the turf and how dry it is
    to give u an idea, a 10 x 6 trailer holds roughly 9 m3 of turf, at a guess that would weigh between 3 - 4 ton,
so ur box would be about 5 ton
    a very rough guide btw

Thanks GY,mine would be 12 1/2ft long,7ft wide and 4ft11in height, was thinking in or around the tonnage you were saying but if it went to the 6-7 ton mark it would be to heavy for me but this years turf should be on the light side.
