    Why are these mutually exclusive?

    Stags don't drink.

    Leave the wildlife alone.

It's a cnut when they jump out on the road in front of you, can write off a car very easy.

I'd say it's a laugh as long as there's nothing silly involved. A strip club would be my worst nightmare!

Perhaps asking your brother (or the best man) what the plan is might clear up your confusion?

In my admittedly limited experience of them, the fun and the drinking are correlated. If you have the kind of "drinking problem" that I have - I don't sufficiently enjoy drinking - then you're not going to enjoy the stag do that much, either. :o

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

We have many stag parties in Mayo, usually in Westport.

They usually visit the local bookshops, go for healthy walks, climb Croagh Patrick.

Any of them found in pubs have just lost their way, or think they have wandered into a health food shop

Iv only been to one stag and within 2 hours we were in A+E, so yeah, theyre loads of fun.

The best man at a stag I was at recently couldn't actually organise a piss up in a brewery, it was closed.

Just try not to break anything and respect the locals!

Your first ever stag is awesome. Sequels tend to be a let-down.

Bit like the Hangover movies so!

Although I've yet to not enjoy one yet

A stag should be a weekend of solid drinking. All this nonsense people get up to now like paint balling etc is just silly when everyone is hungover as a dog and would much rather be going for the cure rather than taking part in some activity.

The "no camera under any circumstances" rule needs to be strictly enforced.

Facebook and twitter have a nasty habit of spoiling a lot of peoples fun

Stags are great craic, just remember "what goes on tour, stays on tour" that's the golden rule

Don't worry OP, it will be all fun and games until Anne Summers pulls out her collection.

Sadly, the era of the smartphone has rendered the custom of riding the stripper somewhat obsolete.

Sadly riding the stripper has been rendered obsolete by the inability to get one to turn up at a stag

Two very important rules. Put the phone away and don't tell tales when it's all over. I have been on a few that were legendary and a few that were dull enough. The best were the ones that weren't overplanned.

A stag night is always good craic, the 2 best stags I was at didn't work out too well for the husbands to be afterwards though as they are now divorced from their wives.

I thought most stags had solved that problem by the expediency of the stag weekend in Prague/Bratislava/Tallinn/Budapest etc etc...

Or was that the Celtic Tiger??

Drinking isn't for everyone though, good to mix it up I reckon. Keeps more people happy and more to talk about at the bar in the evening.

A stag location is only as good as who you are there with.

Are they all about drinking? Generally yes.

    Are they fun? Generally yes.

I had a no phones rule for mine. If you were caught using your phone you had to buy an extra round. For the more addicted, their phones were seized and passworded for all but one usage a day.

I've been on loads of them. Some stags are good and some stags are brilliant.

Just remember you're supposed to be men so all that tagging, check in facebook bollox has no place on this trip.

Been to a few and organised one.

I've found that the better ones involved something other than Just drinking. Something like a hike, round of golf, paintball.....etc.... BEFORE (who the funk goes the day after?, that's just silly) the drinking starts is generally good as it gives lads that don't know each other something to talk about.

No thanks, if I ever have a stag I will be requesting no activities.

Exactly, big night out the firday night, up Saturday and have the fry (and a pint) and straight on the beer for the day. Up the Sunday, fry up again and a few pints for the cure in the afternoon.

That's how a stag should work. Who wants to be going around like a zombie at 11am the Saturday morning, dying from the night before when you could be sitting in the pub enjoying a pint.

    been on some brilliant ones.

however for one on the second night 90% of the people went home at 11:45pm cos "they were wrecked" ...bitches.
one fella announced he was tired and getting chipper then going home.
    the rest followed...

ended up partying with 3 lads I only met on the stag and finished the night at a house party with a hen night.
savage end to a night that looked like it was heading for disaster.

But overall they good craic but really depends on the crowd.

I over indulged for mine and had a 3 nighter.

Predictably the friday was a complete and utter blow out. Think we finished at 6.30am. Were back in the pub for 3 and through the night again.

Sunday sorted the men from the boys. We were in the pub for 1.30 for Newcastle Vs Man City. By about 8 we were beginning to drop, but then there was a NEIL DIAMOND TRIBUTE ACT in the pub, and I can honestly say I have rarely had as much fun. Bunch of drunken idiots boogeying to repeated strains of Sweet Caroline is a good memory to have.

Had there not been a "thing" on the Sunday I reckon the nigth would have died a death by 10 as we were all absolutely fúckered.

Myself and the buddies have another 3 nighter in a few weeks. Genuinely dreading it. Or the aftermath at least.

I was at one, where at one point it was decided (probably by the best man) that the groom should be stripped naked - we were upstairs in a pub at the time.
What followed was about 5 minutes of what I would imagine a prison gang rape would be kinda like - without the actual rape part.

I think we all lost a little bit of our humanity that evening.

Good excuse to have a night out. I just went on a 2 day session with about 20 mates in Dublin for mine.

Worst that happened to me was having to get a few stitches at one over in Scotland.

"Few" drinks friday night, band played in the hotel/pub we were all in
Paintballing on mushrooms on Saturday afternoon, then back for an almighty session at pub/hotel
Leisurely drinking for most of Sunday, then a medieval banquet style meal Sunday night.
    Weeping on Monday morning

    That's how to do it.
