    Hi,

I've been looking out for any of these jobs going in recent months to no avail.

I have a full time job at the moment but want to leave to try work my way up in IT.

For Level 1, which from posts I've looked at is "a doddle". Is there anything that will make me stand out?

I've no relevant work experience unfortunately to do with IT but almost 3 years of customer service and retail management. I've completed two years of college doing IT related courses but decided college wasn't my thing.

I'm going to start working on getting my COMPTIA A+ and N+ soon

and I have a FETAC Level 5 in Web Design at the moment.

Anybody have any information that will help me?

Create a website, get certifications, finish off college, get experience helping a charity shop with their network.

A portfolio type of website? or what?
Good idea about helping a charity shop or anything like that. I will look into that.
But as stated college isn't my thing and I have dropped out twice now and work full time. So I'm going to do those certs on the side.
Main thing being just looking for any information regarding what the Level 1 job entails and what is required or could I even start without the certs as ill be doing them on the side anyways.
    Thanks

OP, what area of IT are you interested in? You dont indicate but it would be good to know.

i.e. if your into web development, you probably wont be totally invested in a role setting up Networks etc.

If your not sure, then getting in as an intern or in an entry level role on an operations team would give you a taste of a lot of areas ( this incidentally is how i ended up in my field).

Regarding getting into such a team, they are mostly only really available in the larger multinationals so this narrows down your search parameters a bit.

Thats the path id recommend, you get a taste of a lot, and just end up gravitating to the area your interested in.

    Hi,
I'm interested in a big range of areas so I'm not sure which one will be suited to me at the moment..my main interest is Security and Networking I guess.

I'm working on finding an entry level role but nothing as of yet. But I'll use this time to get a move on my certifications.

Can you recommend what to start with?
I've a good bit of computer experience so I'm not sure where to look ..
I was looking at both CompTIA and Microsoft Certs
I'm thinking of eventually doing my CCNA but would like to start somewhere else

I know you have said you are looking for something on the networking side of things but if you are interested in Application Support there is 6 (now 7 as I have just resigned) roles in my team alone never mind across the different teams based here.

    Have a look at http://www.nijobs.com/Apps-Support-Analyst-Job-988844.aspx
