Would highly recommend BB's suggestion. Very similar to my recent build and very good value for the money.

When you say you don't need Windows - what are your options?

Have to agree, very impressed with that.

(To the extent that I'm almost certainly going to go for it).

Any recommendations as regards the casing?

Was going to go for something like http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=3066 for the "less than adequate" build at the start but probably would need something different with the better system?

As regards Windows, I actually already have the disc and licence (Win7 Home Edition). Bought it initially with the intention of using parallels desktop on one of the Macs here but never did it in the end.

On that note, is it a case of just putting the disc in and turning the computer on for the first time to install it?

The case and power supply I listed are good. It comes in 2 other colors as well. If you don't like it though there are a lot of nice cases around that price point. You might as well pick one you like.

Windows is easy to install. You will just have to go into the BIOS and set the dvd drive as your first boot device then start with the disk in the drive and it will load.

Make sure to install it on the ssd

Once done change the ssd to your first boot device.
