    Hi guys.

My brother is out in California at the moment and spotted two or three of these large birds circling him and was wondering what they were. The fact they were circling him freaked him out quite a bit :D

I think it's a Turkey Vulture going by the white on the wings but I wanted to get a second a opinion to be sure.

    This was near San jose.

Californian Condor? Probably wishful thinking! Very rare , white on wings would suggest you are correct and its a turkey vulture..

It's defo a turkey vulture. All primary and secondary feathers are lighter coloured than wing coverts. Also long tail.

Black vulture has short tail. Only outer primary feathers are lighter coloured than wing coverts. Inner primaries and secondaries are black.
