Speed ramps

    i live in a private estate in kildare. does anyone know how i go about enquiring about gettin road ramps put on our road? for kids safety...kids play on the road but would be more at ease knowing somethin slow cars down

    If its actually private, contact your management company.

    If its "private" in that the houses were bought but that's it, contact the council if the estate is taken in to charge. If not, contact the developer but be prepared to get absolutely nowhere with them.

    Also remember that ramps don't really slow traffic that *wants* to go fast down, but do impede the speed of emergency vehicles and significantly increase vehicle noise. There are other traffic calming options but they're significantly more expensive.

    ramps are a menace for those reasons and also because of cars swerving in towards the centre to try to avoid them...

    If it's a private estate, you and the other householders would need to put their hands in their own pockets and organise them yourselves.

    Did I hear right that Waterford County Council put a number of speed bumps on the R672 between Dungarvan and Master McGraths ?

    Absolutely crazy stuff if true.
