I don't really know what tesco wines are like, but I live in Sydney and I can tell you this one is solid (having been to the winery)

They produce some of the best shiraz in Aus, and this label is a good solid number esp for that price of $10.

If you are into light pinot's the NZ range is good too

and I would place it ahead of the other two NZ pinot's

On a white note (I know you said white, but for anyone else interested)

but a 5+year old they turn a really nice complex honeyed wine , if young it's lean and crisp.
and this NZ Sauv blanc is way ahead of the others from NZ

The Campo Viejo riojas are always good. Sometimes Tesco have the Reserva reduced to under a tenner and great value when the do.

@hussey, I've tried the NZ pinot noir, and although pleasant, I found it somewhat watery compared to pinots from Burgundy. Each to their own obviously :D

As some already said McWilliam is the best wine for tesco when it's on special for €10. The wine reviewer for the Irish times says its even value at €20 when it's full price. Oyster bay white is really good.

Can I ask why you are limiting yourself to Tesco only?

One of my favourites is this one from O'Briens, I think Superquinn have it as well.

I'm a fan of the light pinot's, haven't tried too many Burgundy - any recommendation - I'll be home in Sept for 3 weeks, looking to try out some good drops from europe.

Gran familia Rioja - 7.99...... Tried it for the first time the other night was pleasantly surprised.

Today they have an offer on Chateau Mezain Think it's a merlot cab sauv mix, very nice with cheese. Think it's down to 9.99 from 19.99.

Both have a doc and appellation respectively. I steer clear of anything without as a general rule of thumb

I actually do a wine trip to France every year or two so my stock would differ from what you can get in the shop here :D Louis Jadot Pinot Noir seems to be a popular choice though.

I wouldn't consider Louis Jadot light. Unless you drank it after a barolo

I'd agree - I was just saying it's a popular Burgundy, rather than a popular, light, Burgundy.
