    Hi everybody,

First time poster but regular reader. I thought some of you more knowledgeable people might be able to help me with my first build. I was building this mainly for use with CAD which I have to use from time to time for work.

I have assembled the following but as yet have not been ale to boot the computer. There are no beeps, the MB lights up, fans all work, the disk drives work etc but nothing will display on my monitor. Nothing appears to be happening other than a lit up board and a few fans turning. Is there something I should be doing that I am missing?

I have also tried turning it on with only 1 stick of ram in slot 1. No luck.

Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.

You should have got some advice here before ordering. You got a good apu there with a graphics card which defeats the purpose of buying an apu. You could have got an fx6300 with 2 extra cpu cores for the same price. But anyway it's not the end of the world and overall it's a decent build.

As for the problem. Have you got the monitor connected to the graphics card, not the motherboard?

Did you connect both mainboard power connections? There should be a 24 pin and an 8 pin.

Did you connect the graphics card power connection. It should be a single 6 pin connection.

I probably should have checked the build here before ordering. I asked a friend who originally choose the parts and who regularly builds computers, so he sent me on the list which appeared to be good for my needs. Unfortunately he is away at the moment. Sod's law!

    Appreciate the help :)

Monitor connected to motherboard - check
    8 pin & 24 pin power connected - check
Graphics card 6 pin connected - check

The monitor should be connected to the graphics card, not the board.

Woo! its alive! darn DIV connector was in the box. the VGA connector appeared to onlyhave one place to go. The darn mother board!

Ok we have a display saying,

" CPU or Memory Changed, please enter setup to configure your system.
Press f1 to run setup, press f2 to load default values and continue"

Remove graphic card , remove bios battery for 1 min. Reboot with just onboard graphic. If system boots ok I'd update to the latest bios. Then retry with graphic card installed, .........you may need to configure the bios to display to pci-e graphic over onbaord.

If the system doesn't boot with just the onboard graphic, can you try with different ram..... PC3-10600 maybe? I had a simalar problem with an ASROCK board with the A85 chipset and PC3-12800 ram(I forget the make/model). The pc would only boot with display after several attempts, with PC3-10600 it was fine, I updated to the latest bios and the issue was resolved.

EDIT forget it ......You got it going while i was typing:P

Ok pressed f2 and it now says.

"Reboot and select proper boot device OR insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key"

I popped in my windows 7 disc and hit any key. The message just reprints on the screen.

Cheers for all the help so far everybody.

You need to prioritise the DVD drive as the boot device.

When it boots you should try to get into the BIOS. Most BIOSes are accessed via pressing the del key, although it does vary. Check your manual, or have a quick google. One e your in your BIOS, you'll have a screen full of options. There should be one called something like "boot options" or "boot priorities". What motherboard model you have? You have a HDD/SSD connected?

Looks like it booted from DVD drive by default, good stuff, clean install of windows and you're on your way :)
