Hi guys, my son has a pc running win 7 ultimate, a phenom 11 x4 965 3.4GHz processor and 4 gigs of ddr3 ram, the graphics card is a Geforce GTS 450, 2 500GB hard drives, with a 700 watt power supply.

My question is would an upgrade to a Geforce GTX 660 2GB card and also upgrade to the memory to 8 gigs of ddr3 ram be a worthwhile upgrade to make it a more enjoyable gaming pc for him.
    Many thanks in advance,

Yes it would be a great upgrade.

CPU could also be overclocked, probably a little bit more on air cooling and a good bit more on watercooling. Watercooling doesn't cost that much, is just as simple to install as a regular CPU fan (often simpler) and will probably get you around or past 4.0 ghz. I have stable overclock settings for the II X6 to 3.8, haven't messed with anything higher requires too much fidgeting with the RAM and Im happy with the result anyway.

No point spending on water cooling for that. A simple cheap cooler master 212 evo would get you similar overclocks for a fraction of the price assuming the board supports it and it will fit in the case.

Thanks for the reply`s all, he is currently using a Zalman CNPS9700 Super Aero Flower Cooler, will this do the job or would you advise an upgrade as BloodBath suggested. Was looking at the DeepCool Ice Matrix 400 Ultra Quiet CPU Cooler.

The cooler you have would allow reasonable overclocks. You could always try it and see how you do with it before considering an upgrade. Case airflow will dictate how well it does as well. Tidy cabling and several case fans will improve temps a lot.

The 212 evo is the best budget cooler if you do want to upgrade and is cheaper than that Deepcool one.

Thanks BloodBath, your advice is very much appreciated, as is everyone else`s, will probably go with your recommendation, and that`s a good price to.
