Do you ever hate yourself?

We all make mistakes and I've seen it happen where someone messes up and calls him/herself every name under the sun in frustration.

Sometimes (quite often, in fact) I find myself making ridiculous mistakes that if they were in a comedy series would be among the highlights. Sadly this is real life and I consider myself to be a bit of a screw-up at times. When I see that a stupid action of mine has really annoyed somebody else, I feel a rush of self-hatred and believe myself to be a less inferior form of life.

This might sound extreme and possibly is but does anybody else actually hate themselves every now and again?

Not really but I (as we all I'm sure) have said or done stupid or hurtful things, and those moments aren't the greatest memories.
I'd like to think I've learnt from them and become the well-adjusted muppet I am today.

Try not to dwell on it, move swiftly on to the next adventure in life!.

Hope for a better out come.

i wouldnt exactly call it "Hating" myself, but i would feel appropriately stupid if i did something that was silly. if i did something really bad, then yeah, i'd hate myself.
if you hate yourself, then you are open to hatred from other people, and vice versa.

Na, of all the emptions that we feel, hate is the most stupid, pointless and ****ed up of them all. I could never hate anyone, myself included.

No, I love myself. I'm perfect. I can't think of a single fault. I'm funny, intelligent, gorgeous, humble and an amazing lover and everyone knows it. Me <3

I am intelligent, insightful, modest, multi-faceted and multi-talented, quite handsome in a windswept-and-interesting sort of way, don't tend to suffer fools gladly, a little short-tempered particularly with idiots and bullies, cannot play a musical instrument to save my life and have great respect for those who can, and I do not like oatmeal but do like a decent torque wrench, but obviously not to eat. I am, in short, one hell of a guy and I actually do quite like myself.

i do but then i remember my usual 'not giving a flying monkeys about anything' technique usually overrides such a waste of thought...

Certainly not after a minor mistake/silly, anyway. Being brilliant and hating oneself are not mutually compatible, so I choose to stay brilliant.

Nobody else can love you until you love yourself!!

I give out to myself for stupid decisions but I would never go as far as hating myself!

To expect to live a mistake free life is naive. Learn from it and move it. To beat yourself up over it is pointless.

In a way, yes. I hate a particular aspect of my personality. I know I have some good points and I'm not a bad person, but when it comes down to it I can't really accept that part of me and I hate it.

I don't really understand hating yourself over fairly minor and unintentional mistakes though.

I don't hate myself over minor mistakes, but they do come back to haunt me years later. Usually when I'm trying to fall asleep and my brain insists on tormenting me with something stupid I did that everyone else has long forgotten about. Well, everyone except my dad anyway. He's the type of person that will slag you for thirty years over getting something wrong.

Nah. I get pissed off with myself, or frustrated even, but no point in hating myself if I make a mistake and no point in hating myself for something I have chosen to do even if it was a bad decision.

I'm not sure I buy into this whole 'nobody else can love you until you love yourself' theory. Serial killers, rapists, bullies etc hardly have high self esteem or great love for themselves but someone somewhere loves them. These types often have wives who'd stand by them even after being convicted of heinous crimes. Some of the biggest c*nts I know have partners and these fella's don't like themselves all that much.

I'm sure it helps if you're very secure and positive, that will obviously be attractive and draw more of a crowd but saying nobody can love you until you love yourself doesn't really wash with me.

I hate myself with great conviction, I genuinely am a fantastically large piece of **** but on the other hand them the cards, and I can respect who I am despite myself. It's a bit freudian.
