Qualified Resource and Primary Teachers on 'Internships'?!

    Hi all,

Internships - seeking qualified primary teachers and giving them €50 a week on top of dole.

Also, I've noticed a few jobs being advertised as 'internships' but they're very obviously not as the teachers they are looking for need to be fully qualified. An example of this can be found on www.jobsireland.ie (for FAS) as there is one for a resource teacher, with a degree in remedial education, to get paid €20.10 per hour before tax. However, 'The successful candidate will receive training in the methods required for developing people with individual training needs.'

Is anyone (ASTI, TUI, Dept) doing anything to prevent this exploitation?

Very little seems to be being said about this, which surprises me considering how many unemployed teachers/teachers on part-time hours there are in the country.

DES are all for it. INTO has told schools not to take part in jobsbridge.
