Practice on Alternate Course before a Stableford Comp

    Quick question,

Lucky enough to be in a club with two 18 hole courses.

One of our major comps is run over two days in stableford format with both scores counting.

Day one is played on Course A on a Thursday & Day two is played on Course B the following Sunday.

Is it permissible to practice on Course B on the Thursday morning before I play the comp on Course A on that same afternoon. Was hoping to play a few holes as warm up rather than going to the driving range?

    tnx

Not 100% sure on this but I think you are fine if there are 36 holes, if it's a 27...and that would mean playing on one of the Course A 9's then I think it'd be a different story.

Best to call your club though, clubs can have local rules in place and they will be your best source.

Technically you should be able to play the second course on the first day as it has not been set up for the Sunday competition.
Course A is set up for Thursday, so Course B should be available for practice on thursday, and vice versa, you should be able to play Course A for practice on sunday prior to playing course B which will be set up for the second day of your competition.

The norm is that a course is usually set up on the morning or previous night, however, although pin positions are set on the greens, one is entitled to practice using the forward tees as technically it is not the competition course.

    hope this is of help.

Check with your club, sounds like the sort of thing there may be a "Local Rule" governing

I would agree with the previous poster here, contact your club as it is possible course will be set up early for whole weekend.

As suggested, I contacted club & 100% ok to play alternative course right up to Day 2 of competition. But can understand how some clubs may have "local rule" in place.
