Open Day in Gowran Park in July

I, with 11 other women, played in an Open in Gowran Park, on the 4th July. It was for men and women. We saw a good few men but no other women, but that's not to say there weren't other women playing, we just don't know. In our group two of us had the best score with mine being second on a c/b. The next day we enquired from GP what the competition results were. The competition wasn't closed, they said. As we were in Kilkenny for a couple of days only, we went home that day. I enquired from GP since then, twice, via email, for the results for men and women. There was no reply. There was nothing posted on their website either. What is the purpose of having Open Days? We paid E20 pp and it is possible to play Gowran for E15. They have an Open Week on this month and I would be interested to know will they treat players the same way as they treated all who played on 4th July.

I am a member in Gowran and thought that Thursday opens were for men only and not both men and women. I am open to correction on this but I have never seen women's names in the results. The results for that day are posted on howdidido along with all singles competitions there.

I agree about the website and the lack of results on it but fron what I hear this is being rectified.

The open singles is €15 to play and green fees are dearer than thay so dont know why you would have paid €20 unless you were charged green fee rate. Society rates are €25 I think so I can only assume that you paid green fees.

I would try contact the club again about whether the comp was open to men and womeb and find out but it seems to me anyway that you were not entered in any competition. Best way to clear it up is to talk to someone in the shop.

Open week on at present and going very well from what I can see but again only singles results on website and howdidido so far

Thanks for all that. My understanding was that it was an Open for men and women. I will contact them anyway. As an aside, we loved the course and it is a credit to Gowran Park.

I'm a member there myself and its disappointing to hear your mails went unanswered. Give the office a buzz on 056 7726699, the two ladies who work there are excellent and I'm sure they'll clear things up for you....

Would agree with that about the two girls in the office. Would definitely give them a buzz to see what the story is.
