Maximum Rent Limits for Rent Allowance

I might be asking a very obvious question here but just to clarify, regarding Maximum Rent Limits for Rent Allowance, if the maximum rate for a single person is 375, what does this mean?.

Is this saying that your rent must be 375 per month in order to qualify for RA or that this is the maximum amount they will contribute towards?.
If your rent is 600 a month and the maximum rent limit for your area for a single person is 375, will you be flat out refused RA?.

I can't find anywhere that is 375 euros a month to rent.

Rent Supplement will only be provided if the accommodation is suitable for your needs and the rent is below the maximum rent limit set for your county (see ‘Rates’ below for the current limits).

    To answer in short, both.
If that is the maximum limit, your rent must be that or lower to qualify, and 375 will be the maximum they will contribute towards. Obviously if it is lower than that you will get less - but you have to pay the same amount weekly by yourself regardless.

Just been told, RA has gone down? Are people meant to try make their landlord drop the rent now or pretend they did and make up the shortfall themselves?

Does the CWO have any say in whats paid considering most things are "at his discretion"?

It has gone down in some places, gone up in others - it depends where you live.

I think SW are asking you to renegotiate rents.

I am fairly sure nowadays rent supplement is centralised and CWOs have very little say in it

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

The scenario is: a couple with 1 child receiving RA since Feb this year. The LL dropped the rent by 50 euro for them then so they would qualify for RA. No way she will drop it again! CWO has givin them 3 weeks to get the rent down another 50 euro or find a cheaper property or he is stopping the RA altogether.

The fact is that there are no cheaper properties...there are 2 properties for rent in the area atm for the same rent they pay now with 40 people looking for them.

So, where do they go from here?
How many people are going to lie and get themselves into debt? :(
