Grant & Deposit

    Hey everyone,

I'm looking to move up to Dublin for college next month, & will qualify for the grant. From what I gather, you don't actually receive it until October?

Money's extremely tight, I don't think I'll have enough for a deposit & all the other expenses until I get the grant. Commuting isn't really an option, too expensive & my course is very irregular hours.

Anyone in the same boat this year/last year? How did you manage?

    I appreciate any input! :)

Could you try and take out a crefit union loan or something? You could be waiting forever on SUSI

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    I know...

I cleared out my credit union account years ago, I don't imagine they'd be mad about giving me a loan.

They generally dont care about your credit history or relationship with them as long as you have €1 in your account for every €4/5 you borrow. So you if you need €1000 for your deposit and rent. You need to give them €200-250. CU are there to help people like you and there is no harm in trying. Just explain you need the loan for about 1-2 months.
