What's the up to date story on this. I'm flying out Friday and back Sunday from Glasgow.

Any idea what days they have planned yet. Need to figure out of If i need to book a backup flight.

Also if the flight is cancelled is it difficult to get it switched if I have booked the non flexible option ticket?

    Thanks

Tuesday & Wednesday next week most likely but no earlier than Tuesday so you should be fine. I'm in a similar position, but flying Saturday & Monday...a little too close for comfort!

    You should be fine.

According to this, your travel dates won't be affected by the strikes.

Oops..25th is one of the days mentioned as possible. It's hard to say whether the strike will actually happen and if so if it will go on that long. Do you have travel insurance?

Nope but only cost 70 euro in total. Not too pushed about the money but just about getting back home. Home match for Celtic as well going to be a lot of punters looking for flights!

It's not an Aer Lingus strike. It is an Aer Arran strike. The strike only affects Aer Lingus regional flights that are operated by Aer Arran. Are flights to Scotland not operated by the main Aer Lingus airline? If the are, you won't be affected at all.

No, both Edinburgh & Glasgow are served by Aer Lingus Regional and operated by Aer Arann.

Yep correct. Aer Arann listed as carrier on tickets.

Okey doke, I stand corrected. Just though I'd mention it in case the OP thought that all Aer Lingus flights were affected.

I'm flying with Aer Lingus on one of the problem dates. Wed Aug 21 from Dublin to Brussels. Just checked my ticket and it says operated by Aer Lingus. I'm assuming I should be ok?

Hopefully the strike won't go ahead but I've booked a Ryanair flight for Monday just in case. They are at 50 euro but not much left and they will escalate the prices quickly.

Yeah thanks. Will have to fly from Dublin instead of Shannon. Think I will book it just in case. Mr o Leary wins again!!!

This is really frustrating. Ever since the strike notice was announced everything has gone quiet again so don't know what is happening, nothing on the Aer Arann website or Aer Lingus website.

We are going over to the Edinburgh Festival supposed to be flying out on Tuesday, Am looking at bus/ferry options, there is Stena ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan and connections to Glasgow then Edinburgh and other places

Totally agree, likewise I have being checking all websites looking for info. Also due to fly from Shannon to Edinburgh on tue. I did tweet aer lingus as I booked the flight through them, and they said that they would update me on Friday with options.??? I also tweeted rte & other news channels asking them for info but nothing. Very poor pr from aer arann/ aer lingus.

I think they're probably trying stuff beind the scenes to fix it before they have to officially announce they are going ahead. Friday is leaving it late for the tuesday but hopefully it won't happen.

Anyone know what the story is if they all go ahead? I know the flight will get refunded if you don't fly or re arrange but in my case I've had to book a flight home from glasgow the next day - This means 1 more night in hotel and spending money - Can I claim for any of this from Aer Arann/ Aer Lingus?

I dont think travel insurance covers disruption caused by industrial action, does it?

    mine (AIG) does:

Any claim arising from civil riots, blockades, strikes or
industrial action of any type (except for strikes or
industrial action which were not public knowledge when
    you booked your trip).

    also:

    also under missed departure:

    What you are covered for
We will pay up to the amount shown in the table of benefits for
the reasonable extra costs of travel and accommodation you
need to arrive at your booked holiday destination if you cannot
reach the final international departure point on the outward or
return from or to the Republic of Ireland because:
    • public transport services (please refer to the definition of
‘public transport’ above) fail due to poor weather
conditions, a strike, industrial action or mechanical
    breakdown; or

Has anyone received any updates from Aer Lingus on the status of their upcoming flights scheduled for strike days yet? They were supposed to inform us by today at the latest.
