If your spouse has a claim of their own on the CE scheme how could you also claim for them ?
This is where the term "double payment" comes in... Even if you sneak it over the line somehow... a repayment situation would occur down the road.

Your claim would be assessed (JA?) as a full family rate with the payment on the CE scheme being assessed as income means on the claim.

When you make the application for Illness Benefit make sure to provide payslips from the CE Scheme and they will assess the claim accordingly. Do you have an entitlement to IB?

Have you worked full time in the last few years? Qualifying year is 2011. Even if you are using up holiday pay you should apply for the IB from start of illness.

This is the link from social welfare site: SECTION 'G'

    http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Jobseekers-Allowance_Pre-Retirement-Allowance---Assessment.aspx

It states that YES, a qualified adult on your claim will still get it whilst also on a ce scheme. This is despite the fact that a person on ce is not allowed THEMSELVES to claim another social welfare payment. It is the last case of getting a concurrent payment that I know of, and was not abolished in Budget 2014.

It is means tested in the same manner as a 'proper' job.
