Looking for accommodation in Dublin right now as a mature student,Would like to get a few opinion's on the house hunting process from anyone who's been there and done it before.

I lived in digs before that I managed to get after staying on a friends couch for a week whilst looking for places.I realise now that I will probably have to stay up in the city while I'm looking,As its hard enough looking for places whilst living down in the country.
My main question is just how much more competitive will the search be when people get their result's next week?I imagine much more so but still cling to the fact that I'm a mature student which I think would give me an advantage compared to newcomers and my course doesn't start for another six weeks either.

    Any thoughts/opinions appreciated:)
