Hey, I bought a car last year. 2 insurance companys wont insure me because they say that the car is an "end of life car" .. I have contacted the motor transport dept in Shannon and they say there is nothing on theyre system about it, the car was imported from England at some stage before I owned it, what can I do about this cause Shannon don't seem to want to help?

Did you try to insure it comprehensive or tpft?

Once you have a valid nct, there is no reason to decline you basic tpft cover

this is the weird thing, I opened the policy on this car with Allianz 8 months ago, bought another car, but I sold the new car and went to put the old car back on the policy and they told me its on the system as an end of life car, I tried a quote though fbd a while back and they told me the same thing, im assuming its something on an English system

The only reference to an "end of life" car that I could find is when it is on route to be destroyed.. I'd ask both Shannon and your local tax office for the destruction status

Ask them to send you the documentation they have on your car and to include written confirmation that they are refusingbyp insure the car. They will probably tell you that they can't because of data protection laws so inform them that as the car is owned and registered to you, you are entitled to know the information they hold concerning it. If they refuse inform them you are making a complaint to the data protection commission and then do so.

End of life to me means that parts are no longer available and unsupported by manufacturer.

Doesn't mean no parts are available but spare parts aren't being made and when current stocks are depleted there is no more.

Im sure guys who restore old classics must incounter this all the time.
