Recommend me some headphones

Hey guys going to buy some new headphones today so need some help. My price range is max €55 as that's all I have in my bank.

Music I listen to varies a lot but mostly arctic monkeys, jake bugg etc.. But I also listen to a lot of hip hop and some techno too.

I'll be bringing them on holidays so they need to be good at blocking out the noise of the plane on the way over as I had a pair last year and couldn't hear anything at all on the way over or back so that's very important to me. I don't really want them leaking sound either. Sound quality is imprtant to me but looks are as well. I've had a look and these don't look too bad

    Any other recommendations??

    Thanks

    AKG K81DJ

    Sony MDR-V6

    Philips O’Neill SHO9560 “The Stretch”

    Rock-It Sounds R-Shield

Picked them on their high isolation reports. By sound, for what you want the AKG will probably be right down your alley

I have a pair of AKG K450s. Pretty decent sound & they isolate extremely well. They can be folded up which makes them very convenient for travel. You should be able to pick them up online for around your budget. Most stuff sounds great with them although they do tend to be unforgiving of music with ridiculously heavy bass, so it depends what kind of hip hop you listen to. Typing this while listening to Aesop Rock on them & the vocals sound very clear with the bassline nice & punchy. Don't listen to techno so not sure how they'd be with that genre.

How's the isolation? Tiny cups, can't imagine them being too good at it? :p

No offense, but I'd avoid these at all costs they are meh at best.. Much better available for the cost.

It's not the size that counts, etc, etc :P. While definitely not the last word in isolation I was surprised when I got them how well they do block out normal level sounds around you e.g. conversations of people near you.

Thanks for the replies, I like the look of the AKGs. Be great if there was somewhere you could test them out.

I take it the ones I linked too wouldn't be great for isolation?

    No problem! :P

They wouldn't be bad, and they're not the worst headphones. If it was my money I'd go with the AKG K81DJs though!

Amazon have them for under your budget :)

hey, guy. what about Dr Dre? mybe it's just a little dear, but i think it has a good quality. just have a look at it.

Too dear for the sound quality provided. They should cost less than 10% of what they do.

At least 40-50% they are pretty bad! My S500s trump them I every aspect for 45€

The Creative Aurvana Live are a good shout, above your budget every so slightly but I have seen them cheaper than that and amazon's prices do fluctuate daily so keep an eye on them.

well, in my opinion, maybe some kind of Dr Dre is too dear for you. but you can chose one that is suitable for you and whose price you can accept.
    :p

At which point they are a waste of money. There is far better available for the price.

Believe me if they were worth the price and I wanted to get them I would. I don't mind paying a price for decent gadgets, but as marko said there are better options for the price.
If I wanted to pay €300 for pair of headphones I would go with Senns Amperior or HD-25.
Now, for the less than half of price of beats I have two pair of great headphones (ATH ES700 and JVC HA-s500) and both of destroy beats in every single way.

Seconding these earphones, I have them and a set of Grado SR80i's I much prefer the Creative to the Grado. Although the Aurvanas posted are not foldable. Sound and comfort wise they are very hard to best at this price point.

Totally forgot to mention the Sennheiser PX-100.
    Open design but ridiculously comfy.

PX-200 are similar (and closed) but don't sound as great.

    Also Apple Earpods.
