I was just wondering is there any reason that my tail bone might be sore relating to saddle height?

Bike fit - Around 90 euro. Best money you will spend.

Raising your saddle also moves it backwards.

Is it possible that you've raised it and by moving it back you've move the sweet spots on the saddle out from under your sit bones and behind you? So you'd be putting more weight between the sit bones.

Only thing I can think of. Moving your seat very slightly forward when you raise it upwards would balance that out but might cause issues in relation to knee/pedal position. As it's such a minor adjustment I'd expect it to be OK but worth keeping in mind.

I'd try cycling around with both saddle heights and see if the weight on your saddle seems to be on your sit bones in the new position. If it's not, you need to fix things.

I damaged my tail bone a couple of months ago and have had considerable discomfort since when sitting/lying down, but the one place I have no discomfort at all is on the bike. I've had a bike fit so I'm pretty confident about my saddle position. So bike fit sounds like good advice.

Could be a number of things, saddle height, position if the saddle over the bb, and even the shape of the saddle itself.

Thanks for the replies. I'm actually using my dad's bike so I don't want to be changing things on him. I usually only adjust the saddle height as I'm taller than him. I tried it a little lower down than usual today and it seemed quite comfortable. I won't really know until tomorrow or the next day if it made much of a difference though.

The plan is to get a bike of my own, and I will definitely look into bike fit.
