What does estimated shipping time mean on Amazon.co.uk?

Basically, I was looking at a laptop that I wanted to buy on Friday. Beside it, it said 'last one but more on the way'.

When I went on this morning to buy it, the last one had in fact sold over the weekend and the current message was 'usually dispatched within 3-4 weeks'.

I proceeded to add the item to my basket and got to the last page where you 'place order' and I noticed at the bottom it said 'estimated delivery between 4th September - 12th September' (link below).

My question is : do those messages mean that the item will not be dispatched until I order it or can I leave purchasing it for 3-4 weeks until the item is available for immediate dispatch from Amazon.

I hope I am explaining myself clearly but what I don't know is, is that if the item will ever become available for immediate dispatch unless I stimulate that dispatch by ordering now, if you know what I mean.

Here's the link of the item saved in my 'saved for later' section:

It will never be dispatched to you unless you order it,regardless

But they may come back into stock and show as ready for dispatch, but if you have not ordered it they could just as easily sell out again :)

Ok cheers, that's what I needed to know.

Another thing, on the off chance that you might be able to help. If the item becomes available quicker than they thought, they will dispatch it quicker then I presume?

And say if the price changes between now and when it is dispatched would I be charged more/ or refunded the difference or any changes? As the price has actually lowered since the last one on Friday sold.

Yes if you order it now and it comes in sooner they will dispatch it as soon as they can,

You wont be charged until its ready to dispatch so therefore you will get charged at the going price then, which could either be higher or lower then now :)

Thanks for that. Say for argument sake the price of the product increased a lot to a price that I couldn't afford where do I stand with that seens as they are looking for my card details and delivery details to place the order in the first place.

Surely they won't charge me an increased price close to dispatch without my agreement if my agreement is the price I 'place order' on today.

    Sorry my mistake :(

If you ordered it today then they wont charge anymore if it goes higher but they will charge you lower if it comes down in price, not that that happens a lot :)

I have had 2-3 things like this on amazon, and all dispatched before the estimated time. Dunno what others experience has been.
