    The rsa were out?

The gaurds would either take the car or issue a fixed fine. Im pretty sure its a fixed fine and not on a sliding scale against time out. ..

Less than a hundred I think.
Did he not get a ticket with amount? To bring in to the council for payment?

Was it actually RSA, or the Gardai?

Untaxed cars should be crushed. That would tighten a lot of people.:)

Im amazed that he was allowed to drive away in anything that was out of date for two years.

Sucks your friend was caught OP, whats worse is he may only be getting a fine.
Hate being on a high horse, but I pay €1800+ a year for the enjoyment of driving.

Don't see why he thinks he should pay nothing.
If its a work van its worse only like €260 to tax a van for the year.

Pay up or his van should be crushed. So are they paying the fine and taxing or just looking after the fine.
